The AASM Journal Network: Advancing Research, Education, and Innovation in Mycobacteriology and Biomedical Sciences

The Asian–African Society of Mycobacteriology (AASM) is committed to advancing scientific research, international collaboration, education, and professional development in mycobacteriology and related biomedical disciplines. Through its scientific activities, international partnerships, and publishing initiatives, AASM supports the dissemination of high-quality research and the exchange of knowledge among scientists, clinicians, laboratory specialists, and public health professionals worldwide.

The AASM scientific publishing network comprises three complementary peer-reviewed journals: the International Journal of Mycobacteriology (IJMY), the Biomedical and Biotechnology Research Journal (BBRJ), and the Journal of Preventive, Diagnostic and Treatment Strategies in Medicine (JPDTSM). The Society of Biomedical and Biotechnology Scientists (SBBS), a branch of AASM, publishes BBRJ and JPDTSM, while IJMY is published on behalf of AASM.

Together, these journals cover complementary areas of scientific research, from specialized mycobacteriology to biomedical and biotechnological innovation and evidence-based medical practice. Their shared objective is to promote scientific excellence, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and make research findings accessible to the international scientific community.

1. International Journal of Mycobacteriology (IJMY)
The International Journal of Mycobacteriology is the official journal of the Asian–African Society of Mycobacteriology. It is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to scientific advances in mycobacteriology and the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control of mycobacterial diseases.

IJMY publishes original research, reviews, and other scholarly contributions addressing tuberculosis, drug-resistant tuberculosis, nontuberculous mycobacterial diseases, leprosy, and related fields. Its scope includes diagnostic methods, antimicrobial resistance, molecular epidemiology, host–pathogen interactions, laboratory investigations, treatment strategies, and public health interventions.

The journal encourages scientific exchange between clinical and laboratory researchers and promotes the dissemination of findings that can improve diagnostic accuracy, treatment outcomes, and disease-control strategies. Its international scope supports collaboration among researchers and institutions working in diverse epidemiological and resource settings.

IJMY provides free online access to its content and follows established publication-ethics principles and relevant guidance from organizations such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

The journal is indexed in major scholarly databases, including MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, DOAJ, and Embase, according to its reported indexing information. Its open-access model supports the global dissemination of research in mycobacteriology.

2. Biomedical and Biotechnology Research Journal (BBRJ)
The Biomedical and Biotechnology Research Journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Society of Biomedical and Biotechnology Scientists (SBBS), a branch of AASM. It provides an international platform for research across biomedical sciences, biotechnology, and related disciplines.

BBRJ covers a broad range of subjects, including nanobiotechnology, tissue engineering, genetics, tissue modelling, immunology, infectious diseases, nucleic acids and molecular biology, physiology, biochemistry, biochemical and bioprocess engineering, computational chemistry, molecular drug design, genomics, molecular bioinformatics, biomarkers, and proteomics.

By bringing together researchers from diverse scientific disciplines, BBRJ encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and the exchange of ideas that advance understanding of biological mechanisms, improve diagnostic approaches, and support the development

of innovative biomedical technologies. Its broad scope accommodates research ranging from fundamental biological investigations to clinical applications and translational science.

The journal provides free online access to its published content and supports the dissemination and long-term preservation of scholarly work. Its print ISSN is 2588-9834, and its online ISSN is 2588-9842.

BBRJ is included in scholarly indexing and abstracting services, including Scopus, the Emerging Sources Citation Index, and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), according to its reported indexing information. Current indexing coverage should be confirmed through the respective databases.

3. Journal of Preventive, Diagnostic and Treatment Strategies in Medicine (JPDTSM)
The Journal of Preventive, Diagnostic and Treatment Strategies in Medicine is a peer-reviewed, quarterly, open-access journal published by SBBS, a branch of AASM. It provides a platform for research and scholarly discussion on disease prevention, diagnostic innovation, and evidence-based treatment strategies.

The journal’s multidisciplinary scope encompasses clinical medicine, preventive healthcare, diagnostic methods, treatment evaluation, public health, and related biomedical fields. It aims to disseminate research that informs clinical decision-making, strengthens preventive approaches, and contributes to improvements in healthcare delivery.

JPDTSM offers researchers and healthcare professionals an opportunity to communicate findings addressing practical challenges in disease recognition, risk assessment, prevention, diagnosis, and management. By encouraging scientific exchange across clinical and research disciplines, the journal seeks to contribute to evidence-based medicine and the continued development of medical practice.

The journal provides free online access to its content and supports the dissemination of scholarly research. Its print ISSN is 2949-6594, and its online ISSN is 2949-6608. Readers should consult the journal’s official website and relevant databases for current information about its scope, publication policies, and indexing status.

A unified commitment to scientific progress
The three journals represent complementary dimensions of the AASM scientific publishing network. IJMY focuses on mycobacteriology and mycobacterial diseases; BBRJ provides a broad platform for biomedical and biotechnological research; and JPDTSM emphasizes prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies in medicine.

Through AASM and its branch, SBBS, this publishing network seeks to strengthen international scientific cooperation, support researchers at different career stages, encourage ethical and rigorous research, and promote the responsible dissemination of scientific knowledge.

By connecting specialized mycobacterial research with broader biomedical innovation and evidence-based clinical practice, the three journals provide opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration. Together, they reflect AASM’s commitment to advancing scientific knowledge, strengthening research partnerships, and contributing to improved health outcomes worldwide.

Publishing Partnership
The three journals in the AASM scientific publishing network are published in partnership with Wolters Kluwer, through its Medknow publishing programme, which provides scholarly publishing services to scientific societies and professional associations. This partnership supports the dissemination and accessibility of peer-reviewed research through online publishing and related publication services. While IJMY serves as the official journal of AASM, BBRJ and JPDTSM are published by the Society of Biomedical and Biotechnology Scientists (SBBS), a branch of AASM. Together, the three journals reflect the Society’s commitment to advancing scientific research, international collaboration, and the dissemination of knowledge across mycobacteriology, biomedical sciences, biotechnology, and clinical medicine.
